Wedding Suit Accessories : It’s all in the details and it’s true even for your wedding suit. There are so many small things that you need to keep in mind or at hand on that day. Every wedding is chaotic on the actual day so I personally recommend getting these things sorted and kept before.

  1. Belt : When buying a wedding suit, consider your belt. Make sure to take your belt along with you for your suit trail. If you have selected your shoes take them along as well because you want to make sure that they pair with the suit and your belt because some don’t. You want all your stars to align on this aspect because with color combinations it can sometimes be a bit of a gamble.
  2. Boutiners : Do not forget about the boutineers. These are as much a part of your wedding attire as your belt or shoes. They are generally the last on your mind and the last things can be forgotten. So make a note and keep them at hand. Some people also opt for the non traditional route and omit this entirely which is also perfectly okay. At the end of the day, do you! It’s your wedding and it should pan out the way you want it to.
  3. The Waistcoat :  A lot of people like a waistcoat and according to me this is a great idea. It does depend on the wedding location. If it’s the tropic or you plan on dancing like crazy the waistcoat will work in your favor. You can shed your coat and be more comfortable while still being semi formal. It also looks great in the photographs. Did I mention that it can actually keep your tie from smacking you in the face through all those crazy dance moves that you’ve planned.
  4. Bows/Ties : Bow or Tie? That’s generally the eternal debate. Whatever you decide, make sure you have them ready and that they match with the other aspects of your wedding suit combinations. (A bow is lovely cause it is easier to manage, especially a simple one and you don’t have to think about complex knots, but at the same time the ties offer a few more options for customizations in terms color etc)
  5. Cufflinks : Not all shirts have slots for cufflinks. If you have bought your shirt and it has a slot for cufflinks, Tailors often throw in cufflinks as part of the package. Unfortunately they don’t always have a nice selection of cufflinks. One of the first things that most of my clients do is discard these and choose something that is uniquely them. For example, a client who was a pilot chose an airplane. Another chose dogs. Want to take a guess at what I chose?

How To Choose The Perfect wedding suit

Storing Your Wedding Attire : Let’s talk about storing your wedding attire. This tip is for the wedding gown too! As the wedding approaches close, you may choose to store your outfits and accessories at home but if you are anything like me, home is chaotic during the wedding. With people running around, there is tension, stress and you never know… Someone could stumble with a coffee and you could be looking for a new suit!

What I recommend is keeping one part of your wardrobe (that is away from everything else) cordoned off for your wedding accessories and all things wedding. Make sure that it is an area that pets and kids can’t get into.Make sure that it is moisture free because that’s the biggest villain of all. Throw in a few packets of silica gel for good measure and you are good to go.

( till you find the one that suits you. I decided to go with black because I gave up on finding a color. )So when I wore it and then saw the link, I needed a lint roller. If you go down this route, make sure to take a lint roller. Please don’t keep these in your groomsmens pockets!

During the wedding preparation, a lot of attention is spent on finding the venue, the wedding gown, the decor and all the other aspects of planning. Most guys keep their wedding suit for the last moment. I understand this but I do not recommend putting off the search for some very simple reasons.  If you are as picky as I am, you may not be really happy with most suit colors or you may struggle to connect with a particular shade.I debated over all the colors possible before deciding that black was my go to color.

The color black clicked with me. Given that my default icebreaker is dark humor, I found my color zone pretty quickly. You would think that black is black and that’s it right? Wrong! My decision cycle did not just end there. Trust me it can take a very long time to find the perfect shade of black and yes black is not just black! Black has shades, tones and freaking textures too! Yes! You also need to consider textures when it comes to choosing your wedding suit! So believe me when I say that the struggle is real when it comes to finding the perfect wedding suit and that’s just in relation to the color.

Tips For Choosing Your Wedding Suit Color : When it comes to wedding suit color combinations, you will always wonder what works for you and you will never know until you try out. Many people will tell you to head to Pinterest for inspiration. While Pinterest is great because it gives you ideas about wedding suit color combinations, it does not help you visualize how the color will look on you. This is because your skin tone also factors into the color of the suit. So what may work on one person may not work for you. The question that then arises is how do you make sure that the color suits you? One tip that I’ve shared with many people and that has worked for me is heading to a readymade store. There are loads to choose from and the price ranges vary. Don’t pay too much attention to the brand when you visit, just make sure that they have a wide range. Customer service is also an important factor because many of the people who recommend suits have experience to back them up. They will know what you don’t. I found Blackberrys was a great starting point for me because of how well I vibed with the staff and the help they provided.. (tbd) Sometimes despite wanting to tailor a suit to your own specific tastes, you may fall in love with one of the suits that you try on just because it fits perfectly or it looks great or maybe you like the color. If it does, then you’ve hit the jackpot!

Dark Color Wedding Suits : I definitely need to talk about dark colors. It is probably the most common among the numerous wedding suit color combinations. BUT… Dark colors pick up lint quickly. That was the first thing that I noticed when I donned mine on. So make sure that you have a lint roller at hand. Please don’t keep the lint roller in your groomsmen’s trouser pockets because that would make for some interesting wedding day photographs.

Wedding Suit Measurements : When it comes to a tailored wedding suit, measurements are important. If you are proactive and give your measurements a year in advance, don’t drop the wedding suit from your to do list. Knowing us guys, we may gain or lose weight intentionally or unintentionally. So if you are giving your measurements in advance (most of us don’t) make sure that you have another trial appointment a month in advance just to make sure that the wedding suit fits perfectly.
